With Singapore's ageing population, one of the issues faced by our society will be the health and long term needs of the elderly. It is projected that by the year 2030, one in five Singaporeans will be aged 65 years and above. This places the spotlight firmly on how Singapore can take care of the elderly as they enter the golden years of their lives. In this context, the Intermediate and Long-Term Care (ILTC) sector has an increasingly important role to play.
Intermediate and Long-Term Care is as much about quality as it is about catering to the growing numbers of the elderly. The continuous pursuit of quality excellence in the ILTC sector will be key in enhancing patient care and quality standards.
The inaugural ILTC Quality Festival 2011 is jointly organised by the Agency for Integrated Care (AIC) and St Luke's Hospital and will take place on 12 October 2011 at the Resorts World Sentosa. The objective of the conference is to inspire, develop and promote patient safety and quality improvement culture in the ILTC sector and to share best practices within the sector. The theme for this year's conference is "Quality for U & I".
The one full-day conference will provide the platform for health care professionals to come together and conduct in-depth discussions and exchanges of best practices and ideas on quality improvement in the ILTC sector. A/Prof Sam Scherer (Senior Geriatrician, Royal Freemasons Limited, Australia) and local professionals will be on hand to share their experiences in improving quality and standards in their respective fields and to showcase successful quality initiatives and projects. The conference includes three concurrent tracks i.e. leadership, nursing and rehabilitation in order to provide a wide breadth and depth of sector-focused discussions on how to better deliver quality care.
The conference will provide an invaluable opportunity for participants to meet and network with each other, as well as provide ideas on how to implement and improve quality initiatives for the ILTC sector.
Registration is on a first come first served basis!
